      Headteacher

I’ve been a teacher since 1999 and owe a great deal to all the schools I’ve worked in. Each of them has been extraordinary in some special way. I am now privileged to be Headteacher of two fantastic schools, with inspirational staff, creative children and supportive parents and governors.
I am a keen golfer, cook, gardener and sports spectator, supporting Wales and Swansea rugby and football. My favourite place in the world has to be the Gower peninsula in Wales, where I grew up surfing, cycling, camping and making lifelong friends.
My favourite children’s books are ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and ‘The Wind in the Willows’ because they both teach us so much about how to deal with situations in the real world.

I qualified as a teacher in 1996, so I have been teaching for almost 20 years, and I have been at Shipham First School since 2009. I am the Maths subject leader, and I also love teaching literature and story writing. I am SENCo for both Shipham and Draycott and work hard to support all children regardless of their abilities. Outside school I am a busy Mum to my three wonderful teenage children. I love France and especially Paris, for its architecture, art galleries and gorgeous weather. My favourite children’s book is ‘Dogger’ by Shirley Hughes because it’s about families and real lives; the illustrations are fabulous too.

I have been a teacher at Shipham First School for 8 years. My specialism is English, but I also really enjoy Art. I love pottering around galleries and museums, enjoy watching films, a bit of light gardening and gentle keep fit! My favourite place in the world is Durham because my family live there and it is always lovely returning home. My favourite children’s book is ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ by Roald Dahl. When I was a child I really loved the Oompa-Loompas and thought the chocolate factory must be the most magical place in the world.

I am a newly qualified teacher and an Early Years specialist. My favourite subject is art – something you’ll notice as soon as you come in to my beautifully decorated classroom! I love painting and designing with the children, letting their imaginations run riot. My favourite place in the world in Switzerland, because I think the lakes are fantastically beautiful. If I had to choose one ‘desert island’ book I’d be stumped… Can I have the Harry Potter series? I think they’re simply the best.
